Music programs in March

With the arrival of spring, a series of musical events will take place in Debrecen. Outdoor concerts will begin at the Water Tower, the fifth Made in Debrecen festival will be held, and tickets for events at the most popular concert venues are selling fast. If you want to start spring with a bang, our article highlights a few concerts that are worth checking out. In addition to those listed, each venue has numerous other events planned, so there is something for everyone!

Saturday, March 7: Vad Fruttik concert at the Klinika University Club

Honest lyrics, strong melodies, and an uplifting atmosphere await everyone, where thought-provoking moments and liberated dancing go hand in hand. This concert is for both old fans and those who are just now getting into the band’s world.

Friday, March 13: Sziámi Andfriends at the Water Tower

The band is known for its energetic songs with intellectual lyrics. Their goal is to preserve the values of Hungarian alternative music and pass them on to the next generation.

Tuesday, March 17: Classical music refreshment at the Kölcsey Center

As part of the Russian Music Festival, we can enjoy melodies from the works of Kabalevsky and Rimsky-Korsakov performed by the Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra.

Wednesday, March 18: Campus Party at HALL

The Campus Party series is one of the most popular events for university students and the younger generation, featuring performers in electronic music, hip hop, rap, and many other genres. On March 18, Viktória Metzker will provide the energetic atmosphere.

Friday, March 20: László Kollár-Klemencz’s musical and literary evening at the Vojtina Puppet Theater

László Kollár-Klemencz is one of the most versatile figures in contemporary Hungarian art. With his fictional family saga, he has become a sensitive observer of nature, human destinies, and spirituality. With his invitation, the 50-year-old Vojtina breaks with tradition and caters to young and adult audiences on the occasion of World Puppetry Day.

Saturday, March 21: Made in Debrecen Festival

Much more than a traditional music festival, Made in Debrecen is an event that celebrates the local community, cultural identity, and creative music scene. The streets, clubs, and community spaces of the city center become concert venues, offering visitors a full day of musical experiences. Admission to all venues and concerts is free.

Monday, March 23: Concert by Sikerzenék at the Kölcsey Center

This special concert will transport you to the world of classical music, passionate tangos, and world-famous film scores. You will hear gems from the violin repertoire, excerpts from musicals, and the mysterious sound of the theremin.

Saturday, March 28: Magyar Banda concert at the Lovarda

The Magyar Banda’s image is defined by its unique yet traditional musical approach and its conscious avoidance of repetition. The band’s lineup is based on the defining instruments of Hungarian folk music, offering the audience an authentic yet fresh sound.
