Riding Debrecen’s historic tram line, which is more than 140 years old, is a comfortable way to discover Debrecen’s typical and lesser-known sights. Tram No. 1 departing from the Grand Station passes iconic buildings of the historic city center, such as the Art Nouveau County Hall, the eclectic downtown palaces and the neoclassical Reformed Great Church, on its way to the Aquaticum SPA center in the Great Forest and the impressive main building of the University of Debrecen. Along the way, it is worth stopping here and there to explore the surroundings on foot, including the streets and civis houses of the old town at around Péterfia Street or the turn-of-the-century villas of Simonyi Road and Medgyessy Promenade.
