Also known as the “capital city of the Hajdú-s,” Hajdúböszörmény is the largest settlement in the region called Hajdúság with its peculiar, concentric settlement structure. Its attractions that are worth exploring include the museum called Hajdúsági Múzeum, which presents the history of Hajdúság, the living history houses with their folk architecture features (Tájházak), the eclectic style Town Hall (Városháza), the statuary Táncoló hajdúk [Dancing Hajdú-s] in the main square, and Bocskai Strand- és Gyógyfürdő [Swimming and Therapeutic Pools named after Prince of Transylvania István Bocskai]. The romantic ruins of a church building on the edge of town near Zelemér are a popular excursion destination.
