Although summer is a time for light-hearted genres, it’s also a time for classic tunes. In August, there will be three opportunities to enjoy classical music in Debrecen, performed by great artists such as organists Ádám Tabajdi and Ágoston Tóka, singer Bea Palya, actor Imre Csuja and the Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra.
The oldest church in the city, the Reformed Small Church, the recently renovated Reformed University Church, Debrecen’s main square with the imposing Reformed Great Church in the background, and the Memorial Garden provide a magical setting for the concerts.
At one of the Debrecen venues of the OrganPoint, a joint performance of organist Ádám Tabajdi and actor Imre Csuja will be heard at the Reformed Small Church in Debrecen, in the performance “Organ pipes cast in rhyme”. The performers will perform several excerpts from Hungarian poet Mihály Babits’ the Book of Jonah and The Prayer of Jonah, with organ improvisations reflecting on the poems.
