The tradition continues, similarly to previous years, Debrecen will host one of the qualifications of the Clay Motorcycle Individual European Championship (SEC) competition series on Thursday, May 1st from 3:00 PM. The details were reported by Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa and Norbert Baráth, CEO of Speedwolf Sports Organization Nonprofit Kft. at the Perényi Pál Stadium.
According to the official announcement, 16 racers from 13 nations will fight to advance. Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany will be represented by 2 competitors each, while Denmark, Sweden, Latvia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Slovenia and Norway will be represented by 1 driver each. Hungary will have 1 main competitor and 2 reserve competitors. Several major clay motorcycle racing nations are represented in the city, but talents from emerging countries will also compete in the Perényi Pál Stadium.

Norbert Baráth, the CEO of Speedwolf Sports Organization Nonprofit Kft., reported that among the Hungarian competitors, Norbert Magosi will take on the fight against foreign rivals, while two young Debrecen talents, Richárd Füzesi and Zoltán Lovas, are waiting to be deployed as reserves on May 1st. The stakes of the competition are no less than reaching the SEC Challenge, which the best four competitors of the qualifiers can fight for.
In addition to Hungary, the four qualifiers are hosted by Austria, Germany and France. The field also includes international classics: the Danish Michael Jepsen Jensen, who has already trained in Debrecen this year and is competing in excellent form, as he is among the TOP 5 scorers in the world’s strongest championship, the Polish PGE Ekstraliga. Alongside him will be the Swedish Jacob Thorsell, who previously finished on the podium in Debrecen, as well as the Polish youngsters, Mateusz Cierniak and Bartlomiej Kowalski, who also have a chance of advancing.

Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa emphasized: The priority goal of the Debrecen city government is to ensure that, in addition to economic growth, education, culture and sports also go hand in hand. The Perényi Pál Clay Motorcycle Stadium is the last bastion of this technical sport in Hungary, as it is the only one that has the license to organize international competitions.
In his opinion, it is important that this technical sport remains in Debrecen, as people really like it. Excellent proof of this is that the stadium is regularly filled during competitions and hopefully, this will be the case on May 1st as well.
The Debrecen city government continuously supports motorsport. This year, 15 million HUF are being provided for this purpose – Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa stated.

The official program of the European Championship qualifiers will start on Thursday, May 1st at 11:00 with training, followed by the introduction of the competitors at 14:45, and the first race will start at 15:00.
