What better way to brighten up the lethargic mood of long, cold January days than colorful creative experiences? In the next couple of days you can add a touch of color and fun to your everyday life with traditional, homemade handicrafts and delicacies.

Churchyard fair
Date: 20 January 2024 – Saturday – 08:00-11:30
Venue: inner courtyard of the Reformed Great Church’s Assembly Center (2 Leány utca)

The Churchyard Fair will continue in 2024, on the third Saturday of every month. The first fair of the year will again feature many local and regional producers, fresh fruits and vegetables, mangalica and buffalo meat products, honeys, cheeses, pickles, but also freshly made slambuc (a traditional herder’s dish typical of the region), hot tea, a book exchange spot and a donation stall.

Carnival of Crafts on the occasion of the Day of Hungarian Culture
Date: 20 January 2024 – Saturday – 10:00-18:00
Venue: DEMKI – House of Folk Arts and Crafts (6 Nagy Gál István utca)

On the occasion of the Hungarian Culture Day held every year on 22 January, nearly 20 traditional folk arts and crafts will be presented live in the 120-year-old Tanners’ House. The Bihar Folk Art Association, the Cívis Traditional Art Association, the Józsa Linen Embroiderers Association, and the artists of the Debrecen HBM Folk Art Association will be represented.

In addition to craft demonstrations, there will be folk dance shows and a goulash party, courtesy of the Derecskei Rainbow Folk Art Association.
