On the site of the former Leveles Tavern in the heart of the Nagyerdő, Debrecen’s brand-new bar, the Csinibaba Kultkert, opened on 5 April 2025, attracting numerous visitors on the opening night.
Colorful lanterns, tables of various sizes and standing counters, outdoor and indoor area, and huge Pilsner Urquell tanks – these are an immediate eye-catcher. The interior is not very big, but it’s cozy, with Bauhaus paintings on the walls and a TV above the entrance.
The place clearly appeals to all generations: young couples, people in their 30s, 40s and 50s and even families with young children attended the opening. This is no coincidence, as Tamás Fejes, the owner said he did not want to create a traditional ruin pub atmosphere, but a more relaxed, “chilled” garden pub.
Pilsner Urquell beer is the main profile of the place, which is a specialty, as it is the first beer of its kind in Debrecen, in Csinibaba. The specialty beer comes straight from the Czech Republic and is not pasteurized, so it contains no preservatives. Most of the visitors at the opening were drinking beer, but the range also includes whiskies, gin cocktails and short drinks.
The Csinibaba Kultkert has good programs and lots of star guests in store for the future. As we know from previous news, there will not only be musical events, but also exhibitions, various theme nights (such as rum nights), talk shows and board game shows. Moreover, there are plans to create a tourist attraction in the courtyard, which will be unique in Debrecen.
The gastronomic offer will also be expanded: about a month after the opening, the full staff will be in place and street food will be available.
