A wide range of programs for all the family await tourists and those living in Debrecen during August. This includes the Wine & Jazz Days, Debrecen Flower Carnival and the 1st Debrecen Festive Games.

Mayor László Papp emphasized that in August, Debrecen will move forward as the most important festival city in the country.

The Wine & Jazz Days will be held in the heart of the Great Forest of Debrecen (Lake Békás) between 5 and 8 August, with the participation of nearly 60 wineries and more than 280 Hungarian jazz musicians. The wines of Debrecen can also be tasted at the event.

The Debrecen Flower Carnival will focus on two main locations, the Great Forest and the city center this year. From August 12 to 22, those interested can see the programs at the Nagyerdei Park, the University Square, the Nagyerdei Outdoor Stage and the Amusement Park. The flower carts will be exhibited on 20th of Augustin the stadium (side of Nagyerdei körút) at the Kossuth Square on the 21st and 22nd.

The performing groups will have a greater opportunity to take part at the 52nd flower carnival. The themes of the flower carts will focus on sustainable development, the fairytale world and literature, but they will also be made with novelties and surprises. Three flower carts will also be unveiled at the International Eucharistic Congress and the World Hunting and Nature Exhibition.

The Debrecen Festive Games will be held for the first time in August 2021. At this new festival, classical music, theater and opera will all take place on stage. The two venues of the event are the square in front of the Reformed Great Church and the courtyard of the Town Hall. Those interested can see The Passion of Csíksomlyó  at 8 PM on 13th of August in the front of the Reformed Great Church, while Bánk bán will be displayed at 8.30 PM on 17th of August.  In the courtyard of the Old Town Hall, small programs await those interested.

The Czech Beer Terrace will not be missed either, between 13 and 21 August it will be held at the usual venue, the Great Forest.

It is also worth visiting Debrecen in July, among other things due to the Campus Festival.
