Michelin-starred dining in the Great Forest

Flavors, Bea Palya and the smell of the forest in Debrecen: between 14 and 16 June 2024, Hungary’s top restaurants and chefs will gather at the 8th Debrecziner Gourmet Festival to show where the top of gastronomy in Hungary is today.

In addition to the best restaurants of the Stylistic Rural Restaurant Society and Debrecen, star chefs will also be featured as guest exhibitors. Whether they are fine dining restaurants, bistros or food trucks, we can be sure that they are constantly looking for new ways to creatively prepare their dishes. The three-day event, with the main support of Master Good, will feature mouth-watering bites, exciting textures, and unique ingredient pairings, as well as fantastic desserts, craft beers, quality wines and innovative cocktails. The Debrecziner Gourmet Award, established in 2018, will be awarded again this year to the best exhibitor, based on the votes of the guests attending the event.

The festival will feature 34 exhibitors, including Babel Budapest, Iszkor (Mályinka), Páva (Székelyudvarhely), Bobajka (Tarcal), Almavirág (Derecske) and Horgonyzó (Tiszalök). This year’s Debrecziner Gourmet side events include an exciting Tiago Sabarigo cooking demonstration and tasting, a Streetkitchen roundtable and book launch, a Coffee Roasting Show with Wellington, a Molecular Cocktail Show, Stand Up Comedy and even the chance to watch the European Championship matches while you eat.

András Jókuti will be the host.

The 2024 theme: the four elements

In 2024, all our exhibitors will be able to unleash their imagination and creativity, because this time we will be focusing on fire, water, air, and earth, the 4 basic elements. The elements can be combined with a variety of motifs, colors, animals or even the changing seasons, giving chefs the creative freedom to present their dishes in a unique way. The theme can be interpreted freely, with no restrictions on the ingredients, leaving it to everyone’s creativity and imagination.

On 27 March 2019, Babel Budapest was awarded a Michelin star for the first time in its history. The restaurant has been in operation since 2008, with some interruptions, but it is constantly renewing itself and looking ahead. In November 2022, the restaurant was again awarded a Michelin star.
