Nature dressed in colors

Although the weather is cooler, the colors of nature compensate us.

The Debrecen Great Forest, which was entered into the register of protected natural areas in 1939 with the number 1, has always played an important role in the life of the city. This natural treasure shows a different side of itself in every season. With the arrival of autumn, a forest resplendent in different colors unfolds before our eyes. Take a walk under the canopy of trees around Lake Békás.

The Botanical Garden of the University of Debrecen is a special highlight of the Great Forest. Most of the area is occupied by the arboretum, where you can see a variety of trees and shrubs native to Hungary and from other parts of the world.

The outskirts of the town are also a protected landscape area called Erdőspuszta. The area, dotted with forests, marshes, and lakes, is an ideal destination for excursions at any time of the year (Fancsikai Lakes, Lake Vekeri, the area around Panoráma Road, the Erdőspuszta Exhibition House, and the Arboretum).
