Ride in veteran vehicles on 15 March at the DKV Spring Retro Day!

This year’s series of retro events of the Debrecen Transport Company (DKV) will continue in spring: on 15 March, lovers of vintage vehicles – buses, trolleybuses, trams and locomotives – will be awaited with many surprises.

The Spring Retro Day will open with a 102-year-old “lady”, the steamer Zsuzsi. The “Lumberjack” and “Bengal” trams will return to the streets of the heart of the town. The Ikarus trolleybus also rolls out again. A surprise guest will be the Beaver Tradition Ikarus EAG 94 bus.

The event is a good opportunity to visit to DKV’s 10th anniversary Public Transport History Memorial Room on Salétrom Street, where visitors can learn about the past and present of local public transport over the past 140 years. The collection, which is free to visit, also gives an insight into the transport history of other rural towns and Budapest, as well as relics of transport companies from major foreign cities. The Memorial Room currently houses nearly 4,000 objects, ranging from a simple ticket to a period uniform. The DKV Transport History Memorial Room is open from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m., by appointment at weekends or after opening hours.
