The best U18 basketball players compete in Debrecen

In 2023, Bursa, Turkey, hosted the International Basketball Federation’s latest initiative, the Youth Champions League. The first, now official, edition is hosted by Debrecen – between 2 and 7 April 2024, thirteen U18 teams will battle it out for the final victory in the Oláh Gábor Street Sports Hall, including Team Debrecen.

The Hungarian U18 team will face Vilnius Rytas on the opening day on April 2, followed by Tenerife a day later, while on Thursday they will close the group with Greece. The first of the four will continue in the last four, the second will battle it out for places 5-8, while the third and fourth will battle it out for places 9-13 for the remainder of the tournament.

Group A: Team Debrecen, Rytas Vilnius (Lithuania), Lenovo Tenerife (Spain), Promitheas Patras (Greece)
Group B: Igokea (Bosnia), BA Nymburk (Czech Republic), AEK Athens (Greece)
Group C: Tofas Bursa (Turkish), Porsche BBA Ludwigsburg (German), BK Opava (Czech)
Group D: Hapoel Jerusalem (Israel), Galatasaray (Turkey), Baskets Oldenburg (Germany)

2 April 2024 18:30 Rytas Vilnius – Team Debrecen
3 April 2024 21:00 Team Debrecen – Lenovo Tenerife
4 April 2024 21:00 Promitheas Patras – Team Debrecen

There will be a total of twenty-eight matches, with tickets for the group matches costing 1000 HUF, 1500 HUF for the cross-legs and 2000 HUF for the play-offs and the final. Online ticket sales have already started and advance tickets can be purchased via the Debrecen Sportcentrum website. On match days, the ticket offices will open at 10 a.m. In both cases, only payment by credit card is possible.
