Summer has arrived and with it the festival season has kicked off. Though in Debrecen the whole year is packed with events, the biggest festivals are held in the summer. The festival season starts with the Gourmet Festival and ends with the Flower Carnival, in between the Campus Festival and the Wine and Jazz Days guarantee unforgettable summer experiences.
Debrecziner Gourmet Festival
The 7th Debrecziner Gourmet Festival invites you on an unforgettable taste journey to the heart of the picturesque Nagyerdő. From 16-18 June, Hungary’s finest restaurants and chefs will gather in Debrecen to show where the pinnacle of gastronomy is in Hungary today. In addition to the best restaurants of the Stylistic Rural Restaurant Society and Debrecen, guest exhibitors will include star chefs and restaurants from Budapest.

Campus Festival
Campus Festival is one of the biggest summer events of Hungary with a line-up of Hungarian and international performers, stand-up comedians and actors who guarantee quality entertainment. Dozens of stages and venues, almost 400 events – concerts, theatrical performances, film screenings, children’s programs, NGO street, and wine and gastro-village – await festival visitors for five days around the Nagyerdei Stadium.

Debrecen Wine and Jazz Days
With cellar-cold wines in our hands, we can relax to the sound of sweet jazz music in the summer heat between 3rd and 6th of August at the Debrecen Wine and Jazz Days! Hungary’s third largest wine event and the largest jazz festival in terms of the number of participating artists, this year’s event will feature 3 jazz stages. You can taste around 400 wines from more than half a hundred Hungarian wineries and take part in exclusive wine tastings of this year’s Wines of the City of Debrecen.

Great Forest Open-Air Plays
The region’s biggest amphitheater, the Great Forest Open-Air Stage seats awaits visitors with a series of events every summer. The Great Forest Open-Air Plays offers events of various genres, including theatrical performances, classical and pop music concerts, family events from mid-June until early September.

Debrecen Flower Carnival
The Debrecen Flower Carnival is Debrecen’s best-known festival and one of the biggest events in Hungary. The carnival that is held around the national holiday of August 20th has grown into a week-long series of events in recent years. In 2009, it was awarded an excellent festival rating in the Special Festivals category. The Flower Carnival is the most popular tourist event in Debrecen, with performances by national and international artists and art groups accompanied by spectacular flower compositions. This year, the Debrecen Flower Carnival will again be open to visitors from 14th to 20th of August.
