On 1 May, you can experience first-hand what it’s like to travel by Hungary’s oldest forest narrow-gauge railway, the over 140-year-old Zsuzsi! At the final destination, in the forest of Hármashegyalja, you can join May Day family events.

Sport, play, move! The Athletics Club of the University of Debrecen (DEAC) invites you to a great family day on 1 May! You can try out more than 20 different sports, try on various sportswear, but there will also be a bouncy castle, a craft corner, face painting and glitter tattoos.

5 days of witches and wizards! From 1-5 May, there will be film screenings, literary therapy sessions, experiential painting, theatre performances, arts and crafts, a live podcast and a concert in the “World of Wizards”!

If you like adrenaline and technical sports, don’t miss the European Clay Motorcycle Championship qualification on 1 May! In the Perényi Pál Stadium, 16 teams from 13 nations will be fighting for qualification. Hungary will be represented by 1 main competitor and 2 reserve competitors.

A real children’s paradise is the Sziget-kék (Island Blue) theme park, where you can slide down a giant slide through the canopy of trees, play around in the circus or even become a fireman in a mini-city.

In the museum district you will find real wonders! Discover the world of ancient pyramids and Japanese Samurai at the Déri Museum, admire one of the world’s most beautiful libraries at the Reformed College, and walk “above the clouds” on the panoramic walkway of the Reformed Church!

Debrecen is the city of flowers and fountains! Wander through the flower-filled, fountain-lined Déri Square, Hal köz, the Memorial Garden and Kossuth Square, then relax in the Nagyerdei (Great Forest) Park on the shores of Lake Békás with friendly wild ducks!

11. Get on tram number one and take a ride around the city! Get off at the Nagyerdő (Great Forest), where you can “walk on water” on the Fog Theatre‘s stairs, admire the forest from the observation deck of the Nagyerdei Water Tower and test your skills on a giant obstacle course under the huge trees.
