The shortest month of the year is the season of carnivals and Valentine’s Day. Nature is slowly waking up from its winter sleep, the days are getting longer, and we humans are increasingly eager to get out of the house and recharge our batteries with colorful experiences before spring arrives. Carnival Sauna Marathon
22-23 February 2025, Saturday-Sunday ǀ Aquaticum Sauna World

There’s no better way to recharge your batteries than a weekend of wellness, and Aquaticum SPA is the ideal place to do it. Furmint February

The first major gastronomic event of the year will offer wine lovers to taste nearly 100 different types of Furmint and Furmint-based blends. Chinese Lantern Festival
21 February 2025 – Friday – 16:45 ǀ Batthyány Street

It is a tradition in many parts of the world to chase away winter and evil spirits and to invite and let in light and spring. This is the case in Hungary with the carnival and in China with the Chinese lantern festival. The tradition of these two festivals is brought to life in Debrecen’s oldest pedestrian street with a special street ball.

Awakening of the flower elves – Family Day
22 February 2025 – Saturday – 10:00 ǀ Kölcsey Centre

The carnival is one of the most anticipated events of the year for children, when they can dress up in all kinds of costumes and enjoy a range of fun activities throughout the city. In this spirit, the Kölcsey Centre opens its doors to families with craft activities, folk dance demonstrations and a dance house, as well as a concert by Ági Szalóki, who is also very popular with children.

10 years of Agora – Birthday Weekend
8-9 February 2025, Saturday-Sunday ǀ Agora Science Centre

Can you play football on Kilimanjaro? Which animal holds the record for long distance running? How can an asteroid be deflected? On Agora’s tenth birthday, the focus is on the very best of science, from the world’s most colorful animals to the greatest feats of space exploration and the most extreme sporting achievements to the oldest mathematics.

Origin – Exhibition opening

From the perspective of a 21st century man, the exhibition Origin, held in the third-floor exhibition space of MODEM, will interpret the five books of Moses from the Bible, the prehistory of mankind, the basis of the values of the cultures defined by Judaism and Christianity, through the work of contemporary Hungarian artists.

World Junior Figure Skating and Ice Dancing Championships
25 February – 1 March 2025 ǀ Főnix Arena

Debrecen will once again host one of the world’s most prestigious winter sports competitions at the stunning Főnix Arena. This event is one of the four annual ISU Figure Skating Championships and the most prestigious for juniors. Medals will be awarded in men’s singles, women’s singles, pairs’ figure skating and ice dancing.

Hans Zimmer film music concert
21 February 2025, 19:00 ǀ VOKE Cultural Centre

This unique evening will take you into the world of the most iconic film music, full of emotion and musical masterpieces that have defined the world of modern cinema. World-renowned composer Hans Zimmer’s masterpieces, including scores from popular films such as Interstellar, Dune and Gladiator, will be performed by a symphony orchestra.
