The best Nordic films will be screened at the Apollo Cinema at the 11th Scandinavian Film Festival from 10-12 October. Icelandic, Danish and Norwegian films will be screened before their premieres.

Perhaps the world’s biggest folk festival, Oktoberfest, is moving to Debrecen for three days. With a tradition of more than 200 years, the little brother of the popular Bavarian celebration in Debrecen will be all about quality Bavarian beers and delicious Bavarian specialities, accompanied by fun music and traditional games, set on the square in front of the University of Debrecen.

The MODEM Center for Modern and Contemporary Art enters its 18th year in 2024. From 26 to 28 September 2024, a three-day series of events will celebrate the coming of age of the 18-year-old pioneer of contemporary art.

The highlight of the event will include a varied program of events in 6 venues, 6 hours of concerts, a 2,500 m² exhibition space and 7 performances to make the celebrations unforgettable.

The Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra and young Debrecen talents will perform a concert on the first day of October to celebrate the day.

On October 5, 2024, the Wizz Air Debrecen Airport Run will be held for the seventh time in a special location, jointly organized by Debrecen International Airport Kft. and the Debrecen Sports Center.

The aim of the race is to promote running and a healthy lifestyle among people who want to do sports, and to provide families with an opportunity to relax in an exclusive environment. Participants will be able to get an insight into life at Debrecen airport and run where the planes usually fly.

On the weekend of 21-22 September, Debrecen turns into fairground: on Saturday, there will be a church fair, a children’s flea market and a design fair, and on Sunday an antiques fair.

Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning actor visits the Csokonai National Theatre with his company. Tim Robbins and The Actors’ Gang will be guest performers for two nights in the Csokonai Theatre with their production of Topsy Turvy (Ramazuri), announced Dr. István Puskás, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen responsible for culture, and Dr. Szabolcs Mátyássy, Director of the Csokonai National Theatre Debrecen, at a press conference.

The Debreczen ZAMAT Festival 2024 will be held for the thirteenth time. This year again, renowned gastronomic experts will attend the festival. Zsolt Anger, József Bernáth, Gábor Krausz, Judit Stahl and Rozina Wossala will be here. The host of the event is Dani Sass!

For the first time, Zoo Debrecen 2024 will welcome visitors with a special series of events between 14 and 15 September 2024, bringing a slice of Asia to the heart of the Great Forest.
