The Szabó Magda Memorial House opened on October 5, 2017, on the occasion of the 100th birthday of the Debrecen-born novelist, in her former school, Dóczy High School of the Debrecen Reformed College.
The memorial house evokes the writer’s personality, career and works through personal objects, furniture, and quotes from her books and television interviews.
Dóczy High School was founded in 1838 and later was extended into an educational institution for women, which included a primary school, a secondary school, and a teacher-training college. The institution was disbanded by the state in 1952. Since 2002, a co-educated Reformed high school operates in the Neo-Romanesque building.
