In keeping with its tradition, Zoo Debrecen is putting the birds in the spotlight at its first event of the year, the Chirpy Family Day on 27 and 28 January 2024, between 9:00 and 16:00.
The two-day event is a great opportunity for young and old to get a glimpse into the lives of birds and their exotic relatives who spend the winter at home. Interactive zoo-education sessions will teach you how to make your garden a bird-friendly garden – and even make your own feathered friends a feeder – and you can observe the native avifauna of the Great Forest with binoculars.
The House of Knowledge opens its doors, where you can participate in owl sputum testing and educational activities organized by the Hortobágy National Park and the Hajdú-Bihar County Food Rescue Association. The Green Circle Association will bring local nature conservation closer to the public in a playful way, while the really talented ones can also take part in research into animal behavior by donning the skin of ethologists.
Of course, the Park’s birds will also be on show, with guided tours and festive displays, from clownish penguins to cunning ravens, exotic African parrots and colorful parrots, and a falconry display on both days.
All program elements are free with a zoo pass.
