The Church Market, a farmers’ market with the widest range of products in the city, opens its doors on the third Saturday of every month at 8 am in the courtyard of the Reformed Great Church Assembly Centre, 2-4 Leány Street where artisans and small producers from Debrecen and its surroundings offer their goods. Cheese, fresh bakery products, dry pasta, smoked meats, jams, syrups, coffee, chili, honey, apple cider, handicraft jewellery, utensils and toys, and many other products are sold from month to month.
Warm slambuc (traditional pastoral dish) and tea are served each time, while there is a chance to chat and socialise.
The main theme for the next Church Fair on Sarurday, 21 October 2023 is the harvest. Not only will there be products from local producers and craftspeople, but also a grape pressing, children’s games, a bouncy castle and a folk dance performance.
On Saturday 21 October, the fair will feature the following activities:
8:00: Opening of the gates
9:00: Grape pressing, must making until closing time
10:00: Debrecen Folk Ensemble performance
11:00: Performance of the Superstar Mazsorett and Dance Association
Hot lavender, honey tea, bouncy castle, trampoline and folk games for children and adults also await visitors.
