Seventy years ago, on the 17th November, was the birthday of Mihály Csokonai Vitéz, on this day the opera company of the Csokonai Theatre was founded. This led to the creation of a highly successful enterprise that to this day plays a prominent role not only in the operatic history of the city of Debrecen but also in the country.
The opera company of the Debrecen Theatre is one of the incubator pillars of the country, especially since the Csokonai Opera – The New Generation programme was launched by János Ács, the musical director of the theatre, in 2021,” said Péter Gemza, the director of the theatre.
The 70th anniversary of the founding of the opera company will be celebrated with a grand gala concert on 17th November 2022, starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Latinovits Zoltán Hall of the Csokonai Forum.
