In 2025 This year marks 120 years since the first Flower Carnival was held in Debrecen. Started in 1905 by the Debrecen Women’s Association, the parade was a charity event and over the years has become a celebration of cultural values. The 2025 Flower Carnival aims to return to these roots, with the city’s leading companies, NGOs and performers working together to present a united front to the public. This collaboration will not only make the Flower Carnival special, but will also strengthen Debrecen’s social, cultural and economic role. It will show that the city is an even stronger community, not only in everyday life, but also on the occasion of the founding of the state.

In addition to the flower floats, dance groups, NGOs and creative communities will be given a special role. German, Turkish, Italian, Spanish, French, Chinese, Brazilian and Greek dance groups will also be part of this year’s carnival parade. A community flower float will be created with the participation of the city’s residents, and floral installations will be displayed in several locations in the city. The Galiba parade returns, with the participation of nurseries, schools, NGOs and businesses. The Galiba Children’s Festival will also welcome families to a new venue in the courtyard of the Old Town Hall.

Beer by Lake ǀ Lake Békás in Nagyerdei Park
The Beer by Lake is a gastro-cultural event as part of the Debrecen Flower Carnival, promoting quality beer and cultural entertainment in Hungary. The event will feature small-scale breweries, popular brands from Hungary and beer houses from abroad. The festival will bring the new wave beer revolution to the Eastern Hungary region. During the carnival week, 15-20 August 2025, the Beer by Lake will open its doors again this year, bringing exciting domestic craft beers, a diverse international beer selection and a sense of unforgettable relaxation to visitors!

Galiba Children’s Festival ǀ Debrecen Amusement Park and Old Town Hall Courtyard
The Galiba Children’s Festival has been an unmissable partner of the Debrecen Flower Carnival since 2012 – a magical world where even the little ones can play a leading role! Children are not only spectators, but also creators of the carnival experience: they design, decorate and present their own small flower floats to the public. The festival offers exciting programs all week long in the Debrecen Amusement Park, and in the courtyard of the Old Town Hall, where the main focus will be on play, creativity and shared experiences!

On 19 August, on the eve of the carnival, a parade of little floats decorated by children will once again be waiting for spectators. Children’s groups will parade their own flower floats – a touching and cheerful moment for young and old alike.

Career Carnival ǀ Dósa nádor tér
Flower float decoration, community experience, music, relaxation, family fun – all in the heart of Debrecen! The program series kicks off with a spectacular community flower carriage decorating event, where anyone can get involved in creating the carnival atmosphere. Then come the stage shows: performances for families, dance shows and surprises. The Biebers, Tomi Molnár, Ádám Szabó, Rebeka Balogh, Dávid Dénes and the Wyrfarkas, a group of Debrecen legends, will take to the stage. We’re also preparing for the university students: the Suncity Brass and the TikTok daredevil Ace Clvrk, straight from England! The Career Carnival is a celebration of local values and talents – a place for families in the morning and for young people in the evening. Come and connect with us.

Flower Courtyard – Sight, Experience, Fiesta ǀ DEMKI-Youth House yard
The Flower Courtyard, organized by DEMKI, has been an accompanying program of the Debrecen Flower Carnival Week for years. This event, which preserves Hungarian cultural values and traditions, is aimed at promoting cultural tourism in Debrecen. Children, young people and all visitors are welcome with games and crafts in the courtyard and music and dance performances on the stage.

Carnival Fiesta
The carnival’s favorite, the flower float compositions, will be on display after the parade in the Northern Event Area of the Nagyerdei Stadium. Alongside the giant flower installations on display, vintage cars, motorbikes and bicycles and exciting attractions will ensure that the carnival atmosphere will make the heart of the Great Forest beat faster. As night falls, the lights come on and the atmosphere is set alight. Let’s celebrate together on Carnival of Flowers Day with a spectacular night of music and dance!
