Finnish Cinema and Documentaries Come to Debrecen

In the first half of November, two thematic film festivals will be held in Debrecen. While the Finnish Film Days will bring the latest in contemporary Finnish cinema, the Verzio Film Festival will feature documentaries that seek answers to the many current issues and burning topics of our world.

Finnish Film Days
When: 8th-10th November 2022.
Venue: Apolló Cinema

The popular Finnish film festival comes to Debrecen for the first time to showcase the latest in Finnish cinema outside Budapest. The event will be held at Apollo Cinema, where a total of five films will be screened from 8th-10th November. All films are subtitled in English and Hungarian.

  • Tove – Tuesday 8th November 8:00 p.m.
  • Steel Ladies – Wednesday 9th November 5:30 p.m.
  • First Snow – Thursday 10th November 5:30 p.m.
  • The Night Forgives – Thursday 10th November 8:00 p.m.

19th Verzio Film Festival

Date: 9th-11th November 2022.

Venue: Malter

What can we individually do about climate change, an oppressive regime, or discrimination? How do journalists deal with censorship? What is happening in the Brazilian rainforest? How do people survive war or blockade day after day? Verzio seeks answers to countless topical questions and burning issues of our world in more than 70 creative documentaries, most of which will be shown for the first time in Hungary. The festival will take place from 8th-20th November in cinemas in Budapest and five cities in the countryside, followed by five documentaries in three days in Debrecen from 9th-11th November.

  • Bigger Than Trauma – Thursday 10th November 6:00 p.m.
  • I’m Michelle; Almost Good; Away – Friday 11th November 5:00 p.m.
