Fundraising Point and Unusual Showcase Exhibition

A box of love and cooperation for Debrecen – Give more” – A help the needy donation point, was handed over on December 3rd at the main entrance of the Kölcsey Center.

On this occasion , István Puskás, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen, said that any cooperation that could help troubled families or elderly people in trouble is exemplary.

This year, celebrating Advent and Christmas – in the shadow of the coronavirus – is possible but in much quieter conditions and in a narrower setting, so it is especially important now to pay attention to those who need help and support. Therefore, Debrecen, as a caring city, has organized this year’s fundraising efforts under the coordination of the Debrecen Charitable Body, together with the historical churches, so that we can fill the “love boxes” placed at the main entrance of the Kölcsey Center with durable food, sweets or even toiletries.

The deputy Mayor, set a good example, filling the first box of love with chocolate and other staples he bought himself, hoping many would do the same.

Éva Rózsahegyiné Juhász, the chairman of the Debrecen Charitable Body, said that the fundraising, which had been the site of the Add more cottage in the main square of the city for many years, would be continued with the action .

This year, due to the emergency, I had to look for another solution and I was very happy with the opportunity that the Phoenix Event Organizer offered. Last year, we were able to help a total of 3,500 families with the offers we received. Collection is possible up until December 23rd this year, from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm, and on Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm; I am confident that we will be able to deliver such packages to even more places during this difficult period, ”the president of the organization added.

Visitors can gaze upon the winter wonderland from 3rd December @ Kölcsey Center, – Hunyadi street-side. In the snow-covered landscape lined with lush pine trees, and the quietly hidden forest cottage, if we are attentive, we can even see Santa Claus going about his work. The organizers hope that the exhibition, which can only be viewed from the street, and in a safe way, will not only cause many joyful moments for families with small children.

The fairy-tale world, in which we can see the life of a polar bear family, could not have been created without the offering, participation, manual work of cheerful donors! We would like to thank AKSD Kft., DEKERT Debrecen Horticulture and Human Services Public Benefit Nonprofit Kft., The artist Sándor Pikó and the municipality of Tépe, as well as the staff of Főnix Event Organizer. Presumably, Debrecen’s only real, ie non-virtual exhibition can be viewed here until December 27, 2020 , of course in accordance with the valid curfew, currently from 5 am to 8 pm.

We can even send a message to Santa on December 6 by dropping it in Santa’s mailbox at the Kölcsey Center.
