New Zealand, new wines

There are many good things about New Zealand, and it’s no coincidence that the Maoris and Hobbits settled there. Luckily, it’s upside down compared to us and so the seasons follow each other in reverse. The harvest, for example, starts in March, and by Christmas, this year’s wines will be well on their way.

The Wellington café has also received the first swallows of the 2022 vintage, two luscious Sauvignon Blancs with a luscious, juicy bouquet: the Little Beauty and the Blank Canvas. They are paired with the previous years’ varieties with the help of sommelier Béla Vállai, and chef Géza Szűcs curates a dinner to match, resulting in a truly gourmet dinner introduction to the world of New Zealand’s most distinctive wine, Sauvignon Blanc.
