Researcher’s Night at the University of Debrecen

In 2007, the University of Debrecen joined for the first time the researchers’ night initiative, launched in 2005 to promote science in a direct, informal, and comprehensible form. With the exception of last year (COVID Pandemic) the University of Debrecen has participated every year since 2007

The head of the DE Scientific Directorate highlighted that the purpose of the “researchers’ night” is to present the scientific results and methods in a playful way, thus promoting them in order to convince as many young people as possible, that it is worth choosing a scientific career.

This year’s priority program area is the humanities, not coincidentally, as the university is also a participant in the “Debrecen City of Literature” competition (UNESCO is expected to decide on the award in October). In the spirit of literature, those interested can get acquainted with, among other things, the art of Chinese fiction, the fads of bygone times, the literary graffiti culture of ancient Rome, or even the gastronomic curiosities found in the works of French authors.

– This year, the range of programs in the field of technical and agricultural sciences is also significant, thanks to which those interested can get an insight into the world of robotics or even viticulture.

Of course, the tried-and-tested, popular events, such as the spectacular chemical experiments and the anatomical adventure tour, will not be missed, but visitors can also get acquainted with novelties such as the behind-the-scenes of DEAC’s recently formed motorsport team or the mysteries of vaccine production.

The events can be attended free of charge, however, there are programs subject to registration, which can be applied for from mid-September on the Researchers’ Night website under “menu” under Debrecen, where you can read more information about the selected events.
