Sziget-kék Theme Park celebrates its first birthday

Children’s favorite playground, Sziget-kék Theme Park opened exactly a year ago, in July 2023. The park that was inspired by the Debrecen-born writer, Magda Szabó’s heart-warming fairy tale Sziget-kék (Blue Island) celebrates its first birthday with a 3-day long festival between 28 and 30 July.

The Debrecen-born writer, Magda Szabó’s heart-warming fairy tale, Sziget-kék (Blue Island), still transports not only children but adults as well into a wonderful dream world. The park that was inspired by this youth novel opened in the summer of 2022.

Sziget-kék is one of the region’s most exciting playgrounds, is much more than a fairy tale come true. Children can invent and build new fairy tales in giant sandpits, jump in mini cars, or even test their skills on floating climbing frames and adventure tracks, and winding slides. They can hide on climbing trees in the tree canopy and climb up to the observation tower of the adventure tower. They can also practice driving on the road between the houses of the mini-city.

The free-to-visit theme park is not just for the little ones. It will also be a meeting place for young people and a recreation park for parents and grandparents, with a central reception building, a catering area, and a “play area” to create a good atmosphere.

The park’s first birthday party is held from 28 to 30 July and awaits families with live concerts, puppet theaters, interactive plays, film screenings, and a children’s book fair. The detailed program of the event is available HERE (in Hungarian).
