Hortobágy, Hungary oldest and biggest national park awaits visitors with a unique event at the weekend of 22-23 February 2025. The family weekend offers visitors the opportunity to have a look at the youngest newcomers to the winter Hortobágy – this year’s foals, racka lambs, mangalica piglets, as well as sunny chicks, small ducks and geese, goat goats – on tours guided by the shepherds and animal keepers who look after the animals.

The central location of the event, the starting and arrival point of the tours, is the Tourinform Hortobágy building. The Hortobágy Inn in the center of the village will also open its doors to guests in 2025 with live gypsy music and mouth-watering dishes.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at visithortobagy.com. A limited number of tickets for the Lamb Watching and Foal Watching programs are available on site. As the shuttles can accommodate a limited number of guests, please secure your seat early with your pre-purchased (online) ticket!
During the event, the Shepherd’s Museum will also be open and available at a reduced price. Discounted tickets to the Shepherd’s Museum can be purchased at the ticket office of Tourinform Hortobágy and the HNP Visitor Centre by showing a valid “Open Stables” ticket.
