Zoo Debrecen Awaits Visitors with Chirpy Family Day

Zoo Debrecen opened 65 years ago, in 1958 as the first zoo in Hungary outside the capital. The anniversary is celebrated all throughout the year with new attractions and events, the first of which is the Chirpy Family Day on January 21 and 22. The weekend-long event will put birds in the spotlight so Chirpy Family Day is sure to have something in store for all generations wishing to connect with indigenous withering birds and their exotic cousins.

Come engage in interactive zooeducation activities to learn how to make your gardens bird-friendly – and how to make our feathered friends’ favorite fat balls in the DIY Corner – and join us for a little bird-watching with binoculars. Help us analyze owl pellets and test your skills with various educational activities at the House of Knowledge, where you will also get to learn fun facts about the bearded reedling, elected Bird of the Year for 2023 in Hungary. Be sure to also take a special guided tour with feeding events featuring various birds, from cute penguins to residents of the exotic Africa aviary and majestic snowy owls.
