Gospel – 21 Artists

The Gospel 21 contemporary art collection and exhibition is the result of a unique venture. Levente Kovács and Tímea Kovács-Szabó created a thematic private collection, the aim of which is to interpret and promote the units of the Gospel with contemporary works of art. The end result is a collection of works of art, the creators of which, as outstanding figures of Hungarian art life, contributed to the communication of biblical content today.

Through a variety of expressions, different conceptions, we can get an idea, not only of what artists ’individual interpretations add to Gospel stories are, but also of how contemporary, 21st-century art conveys universal ideas that Western man can interpret through the Bible. their perceptions of life are determined.

The starting point for the 21 artists of the Gospel was the text of the four Gospels. Together, they form the events and teachings of the life of Jesus, all that give the foundations of the message of Christianity. Levente Kovács divided the totality of the scenes, teachings, miracles, reflections and the history of suffering into 1 + 12 units, from which the creators were free to choose the unit closest to them according to their interests and involvement.
