Debrecen Restaurant Also Included in the Michelin Guide Hungary

The restaurants included in the 2022 edition of the Michelin Guide for Hungary have been announced. The IKON Restaurant in Debrecen is one of them.

The Michelin Guide has been present in Budapest since 1992, but its inspectors have been monitoring restaurants in all parts of the country for many years. Now they have unveiled the first Michelin Guide publication covering the whole of Hungary, featuring both new culinary and green Michelin-starred restaurants and gems waiting to be discovered by the gourmets.

Ikon Restaurant Debrecen

The Debrecen restaurant was included in the Michelin Guide to Hungary last year, although primarily focused on Budapest. This is the first time Michelin has published a list of restaurants from all over Hungary and the first time a Hungarian restaurant in the countryside has been awarded a Michelin star. To be included in the Michelin Guide Selection national selection is also a great honor.

IKON Restaurant in Debrecen, which opened in 2012, has been one of the outstanding restaurants of rural gastronomy from its very first moment. It is such an important event that Michelin experts have recognized it.

Ádám Thür, the chef of IKON Restaurant, told the online publication vince.hu earlier that it was a great success that they were invited to the presentation of the Hungarian Michelin Guide.

International Director of MICHELIN Restaurants & Hotels Guides Gwendal Poullennec said that they were delighted to present the first edition of the Michelin Guide Hungary, which highlights the talent that can be found in every part of the country. Their surveyors were impressed by this culinary destination and the 62 restaurants presented in 34 other Hungarian towns and villages, in addition to Budapest, are plenty of reasons to celebrate.

The anonymous inspectors of the restaurant guide awarded two Michelin stars to Platán Gourmet in Tata and Stand in Budapest, announced at the awards ceremony in Budapest. Seven restaurants won a Michelin star: 42, Babel, Borkonyha, Costes, Essencia, Rumour, and Salt.

In the first edition of the Michelin Guide Hungary, a total of sixty-two restaurants are recommended to gourmets.
