Night of the Museum 2022

In what is the biggest cultural event in the country, the Night of the Museums will be organized on the 25th of June. On the occasion, around 431 institutions are expecting visitors this evening with more than 2500 programs – announced Péter Hoppál, Secretary of State for Culture at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, at the briefing held today in the Hungarian Music House.

This year, the city of Szolnok will be the highlighted location, where various programs await interested parties in 23 cities and 9 surrounding settlements. This year the theme is RECONCILIATED TRADITIONS.

In Debrecen there are many institutions participating, while there is a full list here, it is only available in Hungarian. Below is a curated selection for visitors to Debrecen.

The Reform College Museum

Saturday, 25th June 2022 at 17:00

The exhibition gives a glimpse of how Debrecen became a city, and beyond that, one of the most important centres of the Reformation, education, and trade. The St. Andrew’s Church stood in the main square, and after several fires, it is now the site of one of the largest Reformed churches, the Great Church. The city is often referred to as ‘Calvinist Rome’ since the end of the 18th century.

Tickets: 900 HUF/person (only on site!)
Free entry for children under 6 years!

The Reform Church

On the Night of Museums, visitors can get to know the Reformed Church of Debrecen through hourly film screenings and short guided tours.

The Reformed Church of Debrecen has been the home of the congregation for more than 200 years. With the help of our travelling exhibition, we present 200 years of significant memories in 45 minutes. The guided tour is conducted by Mária Siteriné Nacsa, museum educator.
