The Best of the Hungarian Gastronomic World Comes to Debrecen in July

For the 6th time, the Debrecziner Gourmet Festival is waiting for its visitors in the green heart of Debrecen, this time from 1-3 July.

This year again, the Stylistic Rural Restaurant Association (SVÉT) is the main partner of the festival, which is a good indication of the prestige of the festival, as SVÉT is the association and voice of the high-quality rural gastronomy. In addition to restaurants, this association also includes restaurant-hotel complexes, confectioners, artisan breweries, and bakeries.

The festival’s professional guidance will be provided by star chefs such as László Ruprecht aka “Chef Rupi”, president and founder of SVÉT, Ádám Mészáros, two Michelin-starred chefs, and head of the Clarisse kitchen at BOTANIQ Turai Kastély*, and Ádám Thür, the fine dining phenom of Debrecen, chef of Ikon Debrecen.

“We think it is important to show the whole region the gastronomic specialties that our country has to offer, as this weekend visitors can wander on the gastronomic map from Balaton to Eger, from Palkonya to Budapest. We are doing all this with affordable ticket prices to make this genre of culture as accessible as possible.” – said Réka Mészáros, chief organiser of the event and managing director of Főnix Rendezvényszervező Közhasznú Nonprofit Kft.

Forest Inspired Dishes

In addition to the presentation of outstanding professionals of the Hungarian gastronomic scene, forest-inspired menus will impress lovers of special dishes, while those interested in baking and cooking practices will be able to learn from the best chefs in experiential cooking sessions. International flavours, vegan and all-natural delicacies will also be on the culinary palette at the huge open-air tasting.

In Hungary’s first nature reserve, the magnificent Nagyerdő and the shores of Lake Békás, guests will once again be able to enjoy a fun, exciting, and high-quality event from 1-3 July. For news on the Debrecziner Gourmet Festival, visit the website and check out the Facebook event.
