GYÖRGY BOGDÁNDY 90: Exhibition

Between the 17th of June and the 7th of July 2022 the exhibition GYÖRGY BOGDÁNDY 90 can be seen on display in Debrecen’s Kölcsey Centre. Bogdándy Györy is a well-known local painter with roots in Debrecen.

Born on April 21st, 1932, after graduating from high school in Debrecen, he came into closer contact with the fine arts. In 1949 he started to draw and paint at the Free School of Fine Arts in Debrecen under the direction of painters Tamás Ervin and József Menyhárt. Meanwhile, from 1949 to 1951, he worked as a shop window designer and decorator.

In the spring of 1960, he attended a cultural army parade, where he received an award for a portrait. Then, from 1960, he continued his work within the framework of the Ferenc Medgyessy Fine Arts Circle under the direction of painters László Félegyházi and Lajos Bíró, of which he was also an invited teacher between 1984-89.

Since 1966 he has been a regular participant in the Spring and Autumn Exhibitions of Hajdú-Bihar County and in the National Summer Exhibitions.

He was a founding member of the Ferenc Medgyessy Fine Arts Studio, founded in 1969, and then secretary and later president for many years.

He was registered with the Arts Fund in 1987 (today MAOE) and has been a member of the Association of Hungarian Fine and Applied Artists (MKISZ) since 1991, and of the Door Dürer Association of Graphic Artists (GADE) since 2000.

The exhibition is open free of charge from 17th June to 7th July 2022 during the opening hours of the Kölcsey Center, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and during the evening events until 7 p.m.
