Debrecen has many great cycling routes right in the heart of the Debrecen city, in Great Forest, or even on the outskirts of the city.
Lately, an almost 660 meters long cycling route on Pallagi út was completed and handed over with a season-opening Bike Festival. Participants were able to cycle on the new bike path built in the northern part of the city. It runs from the junction of Zsigmond Móricz and Gyula Benczúr streets to the cargo port of the TEVA pharmaceutical factory.
In the Debrecen 2030 program, the local government is planning to extend the cycle path all the way to Pallag, and the construction plans have already been completed for this goal. As already announced, the indoor cycling circuit and velodrome, and the Debrecen Cycling Center will also be built there.
If you are a new extreme sports lover, the new extreme sports park in Tócóvölgy, next to the ice skating rink, will be your place. In addition to roller skates, BMX and triathletes would expect more trails, as well as a cycling training course.
The missing part of the cycle path built on the Debrecen-Derecske-Berettyóújfalu-Oradea, the Tépe-Berettyóújfalu route, was also recently handed over. Now, we can easily cycle all the way to Oradea from Debrecen.
In the future, more areas will be connected to the city cycle path network including Határ út industrial park, the north-western economic zone, Kismacs, Diószegi Panoráma út, and the third section of the Nyugati út in the city centre.
