On the occasion of the anniversary, the railway is welcoming passengers, families with children of all ages with a programme rich in railway history!
The first section of the railway was opened 140 years ago on 16th July 1882, between Debrecen-Fatelep and Nyírmártonfalva, and so this Saturday 16th July, we celebrate the birthday of the oldest narrow-gauge forest railway in the country, the ZSUZSI, with a big birthday programme!
The birthday celebrations will be held in two locations:
The programme of the starting station at 1 Ruyter u:
9:00 a.m. Ceremonial unveiling of the sign;
9:30 a.m. unveiling ceremony of the luggage van of the Zsuzsi steam train;
9:50 a.m. Zsolt Bancsi, presbyter of the Debrecen-Szabadságtelepi Reformed Church, will take the luggage van of the Reformed Church of Debrecen
Parish of the Debrecen, greets the 140-year-old Zsuzsi Forest Railway;
10:00 a.mdeparture of the Zsuzsi train to Hármashegyalja.
At the departure station, we will also welcome our passengers with a small railway history exhibition with the participation of collectors György Nehéz, Kálmán Gara and Mihály Molnár ZsEV.
Hármashegyalja programme:
11:15 Welcome to the Zsuzsi Forest Railway – opening ceremony (outdoor forest stage);
11:30 a.m. Festive performance by the Debrecen Hajdú Dance Ensemble, the Bihari Banda Traditional Association, and the Törköly Orchestra;
12:30 Tompeti and Friends concert;

On this day, the ZSEV library point will also be open for reading at the House of Nature. The library point is the first library point in a forest environment in Hungary, thanks to the Méliusz Juhász Péter library!
