Announcing Wines of Debrecen 2022

The winners of the annual competition are listed below for the award, raising awareness of both Hungarian wineries and the fantastic quality Hungarian wine they produce.

The winners of the annual competition have been announced. Their goal is to raise awareness of Debrecen as a wine hub and destination, providing easy access to the Hungarian wineries and the fantastic wines they produce.

Debrecen promotes Hungarian wine culture proactively, one of the most significant ways it does this is through the wine events and competitions the city holds. Since 2015 has held the Wines of Debrecen annual award, awarding the title of Wines of Debrecen to the winners.

Swimming World Championships: the best of the Hungarian field compete again in Debrecen

For the eighth time, the city of Debrecen will host the National Swimming Championships, which will be held between 20th April and 23rd April at the Debrecen Sports Centre.

Less than a month after the Szerencsejáték Zrt. – CXXIV. Lajos Barcsa, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen, Sándor Wladár, President of the Hungarian Swimming Federation, Csaba Sós, the Federation Captain, András Becsky, Managing Director of the Debrecen Sportcentrum and Tamás Darnyi, four-time Olympic champion swimmer, attended the official press conference of the event held at the Aquaticum Thermal Hotel in Debrecen.

The city of Debrecen will host the event for the eighth time between 20th April and 23rd April, the last time the Debrecen Sports Centre hosted the adult national swimming championships was in 2019. With just over two months to go until the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, the swimmers will be competing in the four-day event, which is sure to be a thrilling battle as a World Championships qualifier.

From 20th to 24th July, Campus Festival will once again be the place to be for all the party lovers. Already in November, it was announced that names such as Tiësto, Norway’s Aurora, the UK’s The Toy Dolls, and Jungle by Night will also be playing at the festival. As recently reported by Dehir, Zara Larsson, something like Sigel, will also be performing.

Debrecen’s Cycle Path Network is Constantly Expanding

On 27th March, hundreds of cyclists inaugurated Debrecen’s newest section of the cycle path, which allows cycling enthusiasts to cycle from the city centre through the Biczó István Garden to the Bánki Arboretum.

As temperatures and sunshine hours rise, more and more people are taking to their bicycles, which have been in storage until now, and using them daily as a means of transport. Cycling means reducing emissions to zero, travelling fast and living a healthier life in body and mind. In Debrecen, the number and total length of cycle paths has multiplied in recent years; by the end of the year, the city’s cycle path network will reach 108 kilometres. It is planned to cycle as far as Hortobágy.

Equestrian Days to be Held Again This Summer at Hortobágy

After a two-year break, the Hortobágy Horse Riding Days will be held again this year. The event, now in its 54th edition, will be held between 15th July and 17th July at the usual venue in Hortobágy-Mátá.

After a two-year break, the Hortobágy Horse Riding Days will be held again this year, said the head of the project and marketing department of the Hortobágy Nature Conservation and Gene Preservation Nonprofit Ltd.

Ákos Torbik said that the last time the horse riding days were held before the break due to the coronavirus epidemic was in 2019 when about 20,000 visitors took part in the various programmes. The organisation of this year’s event is already well underway and the exact date has been set: the 54th Horse Riding Days will be held between 15th July and 17th July at the usual venue, Hortobágy-Mátá. Speaking about the programme, Torbik Ákos said that three main aspects had been taken into account when compiling the programme. On the one hand, traditional equestrian events will not be missing this year, on the other hand, there will be special programmes for children and cultural programmes, including music, will play an important role.
