Europe’s best boxers compete in Debrecen.

On 11 March 2025, one of the most traditional boxing tournaments in Europe, the 69th István Bocskai Memorial Tournament, will begin in Debrecen.

One of Europe’s most traditional boxing tournaments, the 69th István Bocskai István Memorial Tournament, will begin on 11 March in Debrecen, in the Oláh Gábor Street Sports Hall, with 200 boxers from 13 countries already confirmed to take part.

Debrecen hosts the Russian Music Festival.

Debrecen will also host the Russian Music Festival, which will give an insight into the lives and works of great Russian composers.

The Russian Music Festival will be held for the seventh time in three cities and five venues, under the artistic direction of pianist Marcell Szabó. The theme of this year’s festival is “Friendships”, which will give an insight into the personal lives of great Russian composers and the sources of their inspiration. These friendships were not only human relationships, but also sources of artistic dialogue and mutual motivation. The varied program includes a distinguished line-up of artists, an evening concert, a family program and an exhibition.

From April, Lufthansa will fly five times a week between Debrecen and Munich.

From April, Lufthansa will fly five times a week between Debrecen and Munich instead of three times a week.

Last April, Lufthansa switched to larger aircraft in Debrecen, and now the number of flights is being increased.

From April, Lufthansa will operate flights between Debrecen and Munich on Thursdays and Sundays, according to the BMW Group Factory Debrecen’s Facebook page. As they write, their CFO, Eske Herrstroem Financial, was present at the announcement of the capacity expansion. They added that as the series production of the purely electric-powered Neue Klasse generation of models approaches, their colleagues in Germany will also receive intensive training.

Hungary’s first and largest national park offers visitors a wide range of activities in 2025. In addition to the traditional big events associated with the shepherd’s year, such as the Shepherd’s Feast or the Fairs of the Heart, this year’s program will also include the internationally acknowledged Hortobágy Equestrian Days, which have a history of more than five decades, and the National Herders’ Competition and Shepherds’ Meeting, which will be held on Pentecost. The season opens at the end of February with the popular Open Stables Weekend.

Accor Group opens two new hotels in Debrecen soon

Accor Group is strengthening its leading position in the hotel industry in Central and Eastern Europe with two new hotels.

At a recent press conference, the leaders of Debrecen and the Accor Hotel Group announced the winner of the tender for the four-star Hotel Lycium. It was announced that Debrecen Asset Management Ltd. (DV Zrt.) has closed the tender procedure for the lease of Hotel Lycium**** Debrecen, which was announced on 28 October 2024 for a period of 10+5 years.
