(more…)This year, there will be a Palm Sunday city cross again, which will present the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem in an all-artistic form, accompanied by a baptism of the cross and an ecumenical liturgy.
For the Christian world, Palm Sunday is a special biblical holiday. For us, the people of Debrecen, it is also an ethnographic day, which for more than ten years has been presenting Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem in a comprehensive artistic form, accompanied by the “willow branch” consecration and ecumenical liturgy. A press conference was held at the Svetits Catholic Kindergarten, Elementary School, Grammar School and Dormitory on the 2nd of April, 2025, to discuss the details of this year’s Palm Sunday program series.

Debrecen’s cultural exuberance is approaching: the Debrecen Spring Festival is waiting for its audience again between 5 and 15 April 2025!
The program will again feature a variety of genres: classical music, theatre, children’s concerts and Easter activities. Popular Hungarian artists, including Petra Gubik, Réka Farkasházi and the Talamba band, will provide a great entertainment, but also performers from Debrecen celebrating their round anniversary this year, such as the 15-year-old Bordó Sárkány band, the 50-year-old Panta Rhei and the 30-year-old Djabe.

Debrecen will host the opening of a unique European cultural program in early April. China’s Zhejiang Wu Opera will present the legend of the White Snake in Vienna and, in Hungary alone, in Debrecen.
