Debrecen to host Figure Skating and Ice Dancing Junior World Championships.

Debrecen will once again host the World Junior Figure Skating and Ice Dancing Championships 2025.

Debrecen will once again host one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, the World Junior Figure Skating and Ice Dancing Championships 2025, from 25 February to 1 March, at the impressive Főnix Arena. This will be the second time that Debrecen has hosted this special event – the last time was in 2016, when the young talents wowed the audience with their performance on ice.

El Greco’s world-famous painting, Annunciation, is on display at the Déri Museum until 12 January.

One of the great sensations of Advent was the arrival of El Greco’s world-famous painting, Annunciation, in Debrecen. For those who have not yet seen the work, don’t worry, the painting will be on display in the Munkácsy Hall of the Déri Museum until 12 January 2025, as opposed to the original date.

The classical music scene in Debrecen continues unabated in January. The Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kodály Choir Debrecen and the National Philharmonic Orchestra will perform works by such great composers as Mozart, Puccini, Saint-Saëns and Bizet. In addition to classical music concerts, the SONUS percussion ensemble will evoke the carnival atmosphere on 19 January.

Children will be entertained by the popular Alma band, 100 Folk Celsius and Tompeti and friends, while adults will be entertained by Charlie, Tankcsapda, Csík Band, Modern Talking, the Kodály Philharmonics and Hungarian musical stars. This year, BÚÉK Debrecen! will return on 31 December, so you can say goodbye to 2024 with a grand end-of-year street party in the city’s main square.
