The Csokonai Theater Seating Capacity Nearly Doubles

The renovation of one of the emblematic buildings of Debrecen, the Csokonai Theater is coming to its end.

Mayor of Debrecen László Papp held a press conference about the renovation of the Csokonai Theatre on the 25th of January, 2023.

In Debrecen, the topic of the preservation and protection of cultural values for the future has been discussed many times. If there is a real investment in preserving values, it is safe to say that it is the renovation of the Csokonai Theatre, one of the emblematic buildings of Debrecen.

Wizz Air Launches a Scheduled Flight from Debrecen to Antalya

The Turkish city of Antalya has been one of the most popular destinations for Hungarians for many years and will now also be available from Debrecen through Wizz Air.

The Turkish city of Antalya, located on the Mediterranean coast just outside the Aegean region, has been one of the most popular destinations for Hungarians for many years and will now also be available through Wizz Air. 

The airline will add Istanbul and Antalya to its already diverse selection of destinations, the latter of which will be available not only from Budapest but also from Debrecen International Airport, the airline said.

Déri Museum Can Be Visited For Free on the Day of Hungarian Culture

On the Day of Hungarian Culture, the Déri Museum can be visited fo free and offers a number of programs for those interested.

The Déri Museum is one of the best-known museums in Debrecen. The museum was founded in 1902 with a donation from the jeweler Artúr Löfkovics. His collection was enriched in 1920 by a donation from the Viennese silk manufacturer Frigyes Déri.

This date is a celebration of Hungarian culture, which has been held every year since 1989, both in Hungary and abroad. 22nd of January 2023 is also a special anniversary because the National Anthem was written exactly 200 years ago.

22 January marks the National Day of Hungarian Culture. On this occasion a new exhibition opens at Bényi Gallery to commemorate poet Ferenc Kölcsey and the legacy of the Hungarian National Anthem.

22 January is the anniversary of the birth of the Hungarian National Anthem written in 1823 by the famous Hungarian poet Ferenc Kölcsey (one of the most important characters of 19th century Hungarian literature) who finished the manuscript of the anthem on this day. This date is the celebration of the Hungarian culture, which has been held since 1989 in every year across the globe in Hungary as well as abroad.
