Shortly after spring ended, and the arrival of summer, the fine summer weather finally arrived. This year and in general during this time of year, Debrecen’s Zoo offers more experiences than usual. Visitors are welcomed with extended opening hours, an expanded “Animals in Action program” and a variety of summer events. In addition to the programs, and the favorable microclimate and shady foliage of the Great Forest, the zoo also provides a pleasant relaxating environment, summer refreshment with water vapor gates and icy delicacies to cool down.
This summer the Csokonai theater opens the season with their own popular contemporary comedy “Testosterone”. The performance has previously also conquered the audience of the Great Forest Outdoor Theater.

The musical version of the boys on Pál Street and their adventures is a black comedy about male destiny, recorded by László Dés, Péter Geszti and Krisztián Grecsóthe theater will have two more performances in the Nagyerdő on July 2nd and 14th.
On July 7th and 8th, the Csárdás Queen will return, including timeless hits such as “Girls, Girls, Girls Angels…”, “Oh, kitten, I’ll eat that little mouth…” , “Your ragged life…”, “The woman shatters…”, and of course “Péter Hajmási, Pál Hajmási”. Performances start at 8:30 p.m.

The Opera Festival, prepared for the opening performance of the St. Ladislaus Days in Oradea, in which the audience can hear the eternal arias of Bellini, Verdi, Mozart and Puccini and details of popular operas, can be seen by Debrecen at the Csokonai Theater and Kodály Philharmonic on Tuesday 13th July at the Kölcsey Center.
The evening revolves around the musical formulation of the holiday with the wonderful arias and ensembles of Vincenzo Bellini, Charles Gounod, Zoltán Kodály, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Amilcare Ponchielli, Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe Verdi.

Featuring: Norbert Antóni, Gergely Dargó, Annamária Donkó, Imre Donkó, Csaba Grega, Zsófia Janovicz, Klaudia Kuczmog, Anna Molnár, Kíra Nagy, Ágnes Rendes and Szilvia Szilágyi, as well as the Kodály Philharmonic and the Csokonai Theater. Faculty director Péter Gyülvészi, the conductor of the evening will be János Ács.
Tickets for the performances taking place at the Nagyerdei Outdoor Stage, and Hamlet at the Kölcsey Center can be purchased at the Ticket Office of the Víg Chamber Theater from 9 am to 12 noon, and from 1 pm to 7 pm, at the Ticket Office of the Csokonai Literary Laboratory (Kossuth utca 1.) between 1 pm and 5 pm. Alternatively tickets can be purchased online.

On April 15, 1361, in Oradea, King Louis the Great granted judicial privileges to the citizens of Debrecen in acknowledgement that they had served him and his father, Charles Robert well. However, because the donation was issued in the form of a simple patent, it was only several months later that Dózsa Debreceni’s grandson István, the landowner of the settlement was awarded a letter/diploma of privilege, the date was June 14th, 1361. The authentic transcript, can be found in the MNL Hajdú-Bihar County Archives.

Roses deserve a whole weekend of celebration, so Debrecen Zoo and Botanical Garden dedicates a whole weekend for the Rose Festival taking place on June 12 and 13.

Roses (Rosa) are a genus of woody perennials within the family Rosaceae as well as the flowers they bear. Originally from Asia and Europe, they are now popular and widely cultivated all around the world, with a wide range of uses; they have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and hemostatic effects as an herb, their flowers can be made into drinks, ice cream and marmalades, and their essential oil can help combat respiratory illnesses, malaise and anxiety.
The 29th Spring Exhibition in Debrecen, originally planned under the title “Fresh shoot”, was postponed to the autumn last year due to the epidemic situation, so it became the Hajdú-Bihar County Exhibition instead. The purpose remained the same:- to present the cutting edge of local contemporary art.
