Three events over three days, held in the land of the shepherds! While the Hortobágy Bridge Fair will take place in the fairgrounds, the 25th National Goulash Competition + Shepherd’s Meeting will be taking place at the Pusztai Zoo, meanwhile, the Máta Equestrian Competition will take place between the 20th-22nd August at the Máta Stud Farm.

In this year’s competition of the National Confederation of Hungarian Confectioners, the chilly, blackberry, chocolate masterpiece named Bíborka became the ice cream of the year.

In this year’s competition of the National Confederation of Hungarian Confectioners, the chilly, blackberry, chocolate masterpiece named Bíborka became the ice cream of the year.
The ice cream was made by Gergő Fehér, a confectioner from Békéscsaba. Behind Gergő Fehér, Andrea Koncz was the second from the Sissi Ice Cream Parlor in Gödöllő with his balsamic fried blueberry, soft goat cheese ice cream, and Brigitta Márton was the third with the ice cream made with sweet sour cream and Cumberland sauce from the Bagaméri Ice Cream Parlor in Balatonfüred.
We hope that we can soon taste the ice cream of the year in Debrecen, but until we can get unforgettable taste experience in these places:
Menta Coffee in downtown
Menta Coffee is located on the main street of Debrecen, Piac street no 17, where you can taste excellent ice cream in addition to high-quality coffees.
In the Lavender ice cream parlor in the city center, you can find more than 100 types of artisanal ice cream. The ice creams are made without the addition of artificial additives, exclusively from quality ingredients, by hand and according to their own recipe.

The first Szőke confectionery was and still is located on Úrrétje street, right next to Böszörményi út. In addition, confectionery awaits ice cream lovers in the middle of the city on Hatvan street, right opposite the city’s major post office and just a few steps away from the Reformed Great Church of Debrecen.
Gara Confectionery, named after master pastry cook Gyula Gara, is a real family enterprise. It opened its gates in 1988 at Kálvin Square shopping court and offers one of the best ice creams of the city.
Mandula Confectionery in the heart of the Great Forest and next to the Csokonai Theatre
Next to real classic pastries, such as Szőke or Gara confectionery, you can get really good cakes and ice cream at The Mandula Confectionery. It started in 1986 in the heart of the Great Forest (you can still find it there too, Ember Pál street 23) but today, you can also find them next to the Csokonai Theater. It is deservedly famous for its artisanal ice creams and cakes.
