The Cultural Institutions of Debrecen Have Reopened

The Déri Museum, the Museum of the Reformed College of Debrecen, the MODEM, the Youth House and the Great Reformed Church await the visitors, cinema-goers can sit next to each other in the Apollo Garden Cinema, and the Méliusz Library has also removed visiting time restrictions.

With the lifting of the epidemiological emergency, museums and cultural institutions in Debrecen have reopened. The Déri Museum, the Museum of the Reformed College of Debrecen, the MODEM, the Youth House and the Great Reformed Church await the visitors, cinema-goers can sit next to each other in the Apollo Garden Cinema, and the Méliusz Library has also removed visiting time restrictions.

“The government lifted the emergency, originally declared on 11th March, on 18th June, in parallel with epidemiological preparedness measures, with a view to eliminating the emergency”. Subsequently, the cultural institutions will reopen their cultural spaces to visitors on 19th June in accordance with the usual rules,” according to the statement of Debrecen municipality.

Aquaticum Debrecen Strand Has Opened

On Saturday morning, June 20th, the Aquaticum Strand complex opened to the public.

On Saturday morning, June 20th, the Aquaticum Strand complex opened to the public, now completed at the cost of HUF 9.5 billion investment with government support of HUF 7.1 billion.

The cornerstone of the Aquaticum Debrecen Strand was laid in the summer of 2018, and in two years that followed “perhaps the most modern” bath in the country was completed – stated Gergely Gulyás, Minister of the Prime Minister’s office, at the opening on Friday.

Deri Museum Goes Online for 100th Anniversary of Trianon.

In the first Virtual Exhibition of its kind in Debrecen, the Deri Museum commemorates the 100th anniversary of the signing of the peace treaty of Trianon. The Trianon 100 memorial exhibition only exists in the virtual space, designed and arranged by the staff of the museum: Balázs Korompai, Attila Ősz, and Katalin Váradi.

Hortobágy National Park is the First to Establish a Zoning System

After 24 years of waiting, undisturbed areas will finally be established in Hortobágy, the WWF announced.

After 24 years of waiting, undisturbed areas will finally be established in Hortobágy, the WWF has announced.

Based on a new decree, the Hortobágy National Park will be the first in Hungary to establish a zoning system in accordance with international practice, which will determine what type of land use is possible in each part of the protected area.

In the “core area” as according to the international practice, the basic goal is to ensure that wildlife can remain undisturbed, with as little human intervention as possible.

Tour De Hongrie Starts on August 29 With Hajdú-Bihar County as the Second Section

The 41st Tour de Hongrie starts at the Basilica of Esztergom and ends at the top of Kékes mountain. The second leg is Debrecen-Hajdúszoboszló

The 41st Tour de Hongrie cycle race starts at the Basilica of Esztergom and ends at the top of Kékes mountain. 

Károly Eisenkrammer, the main organizer of the Tour de Hongrie, said that due to the coronavirus, it was necessary to make some changes to the route originally planned for May. The only significant change is that the cycling race will start in Esztergom. This section will be 118 kilometers long.

The second section starts from Debrecen and ends in Hajdúszoboszló, followed by the third section between Karcag and Nyíregyháza. On the fourth day, cyclists must then ride from Sárospatak to Kazincbarcika.

The Exhibition “Jelen” Shows the Final Exam of Graduating Art Students

The Medgyessy Ferenc High School and the Art Vocational High School presents the works of its graduating students for this year.

The Medgyessy Ferenc High School and the Art Vocational High School presents the works of its graduating students for this year. 

The traditional final exam exhibition will now be exhibited in six locations in the windows of the city’s downtown shops. The animations, graphics, paintings, and sculptures of the 13th and 14th-grade graduating students will be exhibited, reflecting the theme defined for them at the end of their last year.

Although the topic “JELEN” (present) carried quite different meanings in December 201 than now;  the events of the first months of 2020 cannot be ignored and the works were born in this way.

Apollo Cinema Will Operate as an Outdoor Garden Cinema

The Apollo cinema’s garden program started on the 8th of June and it goes on until 1st July. Visitors can see a movie every night. All movies are screened in a dubbed Hungarian version.

The popular cinema is temporarily moving to the Great Forest Outdoor Stage.
