On April 15, 1361, in Oradea, King Louis the Great granted judicial privileges to the citizens of Debrecen in acknowledgement that they had served him and his father, Charles Robert well. However, because the donation was issued in the form of a simple patent, it was only several months later that Dózsa Debreceni’s grandson István, the landowner of the settlement was awarded a letter/diploma of privilege, the date was June 14^th, 1361. The authentic transcript, can be found in the MNL Hajdú-Bihar County Archives.

As the holidays approach, the country’s only theme park, in the tradition of recent years, will continue the highly successful Ribbon (wristband) Weekend which will be held next on 12th and 13th June. As part of the promotion, guests wearing wristband tickets will be able to use all the various slot machines of the institution, unlimited all day – from 10:00 to 19:00, ie one hour more than last year.

The Kodály Philharmonic and the Kodály Choir will continue their Zoo concerts during the weekend ahead – on June 12-13th. At the children’s concert “Animal Music” we can hear a selection of the “animal” music of the greatest authors such as Vivaldi, Haydn and Leó Weiner. The Kodály Choir “Animal…!” and the hilarious show will feature a whole host of special animals.

In the centre of Debrecen, west of Kossuth Square and to the south from Hatvan Street to Széchenyi Street and beyond all the way down to Miklos Street, is what is referred to as the Jewish Quarter, an area where the Jewish settlement began and grew over the years.

Every year since 2014, the City of Debrecen has been selecting the City of Debrecen Wine from among the best wines in the country, with the help of renowned winemakers and sommeliers. This year, too, they decided on a full range of wines, ie classic white and red, rosé, premium white and red, sparkling and dessert wines.
