Debrecen Wine And Jazz Days 2022

This year, between 4th and 7th August, wine lovers and jazz enthusiasts are invited to the greenery of the Nagyerdei Park, on the shores of Lake Békás.

The Debrecen Wine and Jazz Days is Hungary’s longest-running jazz festival, which has been held every year since 1972, except for 2020. This year, between the 4th and 7th of August, wine lovers and jazz enthusiasts from all over the country are welcome to the greenery of the Nagyerdei Park on the shores of Lake Békás.

This year, all 6 wine regions and all 22 wine regions of Hungary will be presented through 65 wineries – including wineries from Bükk, Sopron, Kunság, Etyek, Csopak, Szekszárd, Badacsony, Tokaj, Villány and Mátra.

Water World Championships – Debrecen, the Sports City

With the 19th FINA World Championships, Debrecen can prepare for the second world event this year.

The 19th FINA World Championships will be the second world event this year in Debrecen. But this comes as no surprise to locals, as sports is a constant factor in the life of the city.

It was a good start to the year in Debrecen, where the 15th European Men’s Handball Championship Group A matches filled the Főnix Arena to capacity. The impressive arena has stood the test of time many times over, having hosted world championships on several occasions since it opened in 2002.

Five masters from the Antal-Lusztig collection

Öt mester az Antal-Lusztig-gyűjteményből: Tóth, Schaár, Vilt, Ország, Kondor több mint száz műve lesz látható a MODEM új kiállításán.

In 2021, the third volume of the five-volume series presenting the Antal Lusztig Collection in Debrecen was published, presenting the works of five significant masters of 20th century Hungarian art – Menyhért Tóth, Tibor Vilt, Erzsébet Schaár, Lili Ország and Béla Kondor.

Debrecen Children’s Festival 2022

The biggest children’s festival in Eastern Hungary is taking place on 18th-19th June at the Perényi Pál Salakmotor Stadium in Gázvezeték Street.

The Debrecen Children’s Festival was a huge success last year after a 4-year hiatus, with more than 6000 visitors in 2 days. The biggest children’s festival in Eastern Hungary will be back on 18th-19th June with lots of games, stage programmes, interactive shows, and a flea market. The venue is the Perényi Pál Salakmotor Stadium on Gázvezeték Street.

In what is the biggest cultural event in the country, the Night of the Museums will be organized on the 25th of June 2022. On this occasion, around 431 institutions are expecting visitors this evening with more than 2500 programs – announced Péter Hoppál, Secretary of State for Culture at the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, at the briefing held in the Hungarian Music House.

Debrecen hosts the first Zoltán Kodály International Music Competition

One of the region’s most prestigious international music events, the first Zoltán Kodály International Music Competition, will begin on Friday 17 June.

One of the region’s most prestigious international music events, the first Zoltán Kodály International Music Competition, will kick off on Friday 17th June, with 38 competitors from 19 nations competing in front of a jury and audience.

The first Zoltán Kodály Zoltán International Music Competition has attracted a record number of international entries, with a record number of foreign participants. The event will take place in Debrecen from 17th-26th June, with all rounds free of charge. The international jury will be chaired by a living legend of the Hungarian violin school, Professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London, which garners its members, from the world’s most prestigious educational institutions.
